What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian (District Wide 11am-7:30pm) position at Upper St. Clair School District?
Position: Custodian
Shift: Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (during summer)
Location: Position is split among two buildings: District Office and Transportation Garage
SUMMARY:
Maintain a clean District Administrative Building and Transportation Garage for students, staff and members of the community in order to protect their health and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean designated spaces, equipment, and materials, including School Buses
- Perform conference room, athletic field, ticket booth, and equipment set-up and breakdown for activities and events at the District Office, High School, and athletic field.
- Perform general labor functions, including unloading bulk material from trucks
- Maintain building and grounds security
- Report building, grounds, and equipment conditions that may need remedied or repaired
- Participate in fire and emergency drills, know emergency procedures, and the location and use of first-aid and fire fighting equipment
- Move furniture and equipment
- Assists visitors utilizing the facilities
- Responsible for the preservation and maintenance of assigned tools and equipment, as well as assisting in the repair of equipment and facilities
- Operate various floor equipment, including battery-powered auto-scrubbers/buffers and high-speed/high-torque propane burnishers
- Perform snow-removal, both the operation of fuel-powered snow removal equipment and manual removal using a shovel
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, staff, administrators and community members.
- Exhibit effective communication skills.
- Being proper stewards of district property, materials and equipment.
- Work with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all inspection regulations, safety codes and district requirements and school board policies.
- Ability to push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
Successful candidate will be required to take post-offer; pre-employment drug test and work capacity evaluation ("WCE"). The WCE includes various physical attributes including push, pull, lift and carry.
