Position Description Summary:
To facilitate student mastery of designated subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible individuals. The successful candidate will foster a motivating classroom environment, establish effective rapport with students, and maintain collaborative partnerships with parents and colleagues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach district-approved curriculum.
- Plan a program of study and develop lesson plans and instructional material that is developmentally appropriate, as well as meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, seeking the assistance of district specialists, as required.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, school counselors and administrators regarding student issues.
- Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members.
- Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Follow district policy, guidelines, regulations and procedures, as well as, maintain confidentiality according to law and policy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and valid secondary teaching certificate in identified content area.
- Strong background in Spanish instruction.
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
- Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
- Effective oral and written communication.
