Position: 1.0 Resource Teacher (Contract)
Location: High School
Anticipated Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year (August 2026)
Summary:
Provides instruction to students in grades 9–12 with varying learning levels and abilities within the assigned content area. Collaborates with staff and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating instructional and support services for individual students and small groups both within and outside the classroom setting.
Responsibilities:
- Support students in the learning process of the district-approved curriculum.
- Provide diagnostic, evaluative, interpretive services for individual and incoming students
- Cooperate and collaborate with Curriculum Leader and other staff members, including classroom teachers, to plan, improve and implement best instruction and support for student learning
- Design specific learning plans for individual and small groups of students based on observable needs, data, and input from teachers
- Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
- Employ technology resources (e.g., Canvas) to support student learning, organization, and communication
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of students
- Guide, monitor and assess the learning process toward the achievement of goals
- Maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques
- Confer with students, parents, school counselors and administrators to resolve student problems
- Analyze, interpret, and support 504 plans and assist students who require additional learning supports
- Be trained and participate as a member of the S^3 (student support services) team
- Coordinate the peer tutoring program
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree and valid secondary teaching certificate in identified content area.
- PA teaching certificate
- Strong background in secondary instruction
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
- Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
- Effective oral and written communication.
