Position: 1.0 Gifted Teacher- Contract
Assignment Location: High School
Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year (Start: August 2025)
Summary:
Teaches 9th through 12th grade Gifted students; works cooperatively with staff and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and facilitating the Gifted program in the classroom setting with individual and/or small groups of students in and out of the classroom.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach the district-approved curriculum.
- Provide diagnostic, evaluative, interpretive services for students.
- Conduct needs analysis, design and implementation of the Gifted programming that is developmentally appropriate to meet the individual needs and abilities of students; Implementation of specific programming for students may occur beyond the traditional instructional day.
- Remain compliant with PA Chapter 16-Special Education for Gifted Students regulations.
- Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of students
- Guide, monitor and assess the learning process toward the achievement of goals.
- Maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques.
- Confer with students, parents, school counselors and administrators to resolve student problems.
- Other duties as assigned by the High School Administration.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of subjects assigned and specific content area;
- Ability to implement policy and procedures,including but not limited to PA Chapter 16-Special Education for Gifted Students regulations;
- Exhibit general knowledge of curriculum and instruction; basic computer skills.
- Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
- Effective oral and written communication.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and valid secondary teaching certificate in identified content area.
- PA teaching certificate: K-12 or 7-12
- Strong background in leading nontraditional, project-based learning and differentiated instruction.
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
- Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
- Effective oral and written communication.
