What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletics Director (High School/Middle School) position at Upper School?
This is an 11-month stipend position, paired with a licensed educator role available and a 50% teaching load, for a dynamic leader with a demonstrated record of advancing both competitive athletic performance and college-preparatory academic outcomes, prepared to lead and expand Oxford Preparatory School’s athletic programming.
Athletics Director
- Administers the school's athletic programs (Middle & High)
- Assesses the school's athletic program (Middle & High)
- With consent of the executive director, selects, assigns and evaluates coaches
- Schedules all athletic contests, fields and facilities
- Schedules all game officials and security personnel
- Attends athletic events whenever possible, working in conjunction with the executive director and assistant director to ensure coverage of all home events
- Ensures student athletic eligibility according to North Carolina High School Athletics Association (NCHSAA) and OPS guidelines
- Serves as liaison with coaches and executive director to address student discipline impacting athletic eligibility
- Attends relevant meetings regarding conference and state NCHSAA business
- Coordinates athletic budgets, working with coaches to ensure equity across all sports
- Plans and coordinates athletic awards programs
- Ensures that all student athletes are insured
- Maintains records and ensure appropriate training, including first aid training, for all coaching staff
- Maintains a current physical for each student athlete
- Maintains an active athletic program that promotes sportsmanship and welcomes competing teams and guests
- Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds
- Serves as a liaison between coaches and the athletic boosters club
- Coordinates public relations in cooperation with the executive director
- Maintains records of the results of all athletic contests and athletic scholarships
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the executive director
