LABORATORY COURIER

Regulatory Affairs Division Pay Range: $20 per hour

Open Until Filled Temporary Position Duration: 12-18 months

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-12:30pm*

*Except holidays or in the event of extreme weather declared by UOSA

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

The Upper Occoquan Service Authority, located in Centreville, VA, is a leader in water reclamation, has an immediate temporary opening for a Laboratory Courier within the Regulatory Affairs Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The candidate will be responsible for receiving and transporting environmental samples (water and soil) from the UOSA plant site in Centreville, VA to the offsite UOSA Lab at the Northern Virginia Bioscience Center in Manassas, VA using a UOSA provided company vehicle.
• They will inspect the sample bottles and document the exact samples received as a part of the receiving process.
• The candidate must follow chain of custody procedures and maintain preservation requirements for regulatory samples.
• They will also wash and prepare the sample bottles for each day’s sample collection following Lab Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• The candidate will dispose of samples appropriately.
• The candidate will perform other duties as assigned.
• May be exposed to wastewater biological and chemical hazards.
• Courier may undergo training to conduct certain basic laboratory analyses after they have successfully mastered their responsibilities and demonstrated analytical proficiency.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

• Completion of high school or a GED program
• Possession of a vehicle operator’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
• Candidate must adhere to safety rules and driving laws.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of position to include extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Candidate must be reliable, organized and detail oriented. Punctuality and time management are essential.
