PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The assistant principal assists lead principals through coordination of responsibilities across schools. They provide instructional leadership, supporting student achievement, staff development, and the effective management of school operations
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to the Assistant Superintendent
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists in the selection, orientation, assignment, evaluation, and supervision of teachers.
• Assists principals in developing teachers’ instructional practices and supporting the implementation of high quality instruction.
• Assists with providing leadership, professional assistance, and staff development programs to professional and support personnel members.
• Assists in curriculum development, revision, evaluation and in providing instructional leadership to the staff.
• Works with other administrators and teachers to monitor the implementation of elementary standards and curriculum.
• Assists in the development and administration of procedures for pupil accounting, attendance, absence, discipline, pupil activities, and programming of activities.
• Helps develop, coordinate, and administer the daily routines of school management as assigned by the principal.
• Coordinates the consistent implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework at the elementary level, districtwide, ensuring effective implementation of interventions and data-driven decision-making to support all students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
• Maintains high standards of student conduct, supports PBIS programming and the implementation of the code of conduct.
• Supports mentor teachers during the two year induction program.
• Assists with administering state testing.
• Assists principals in developing the student/parent and teacher policy handbooks.
• Serves as the Local Education Agency representative when needed.
• Assumes the duties and functions of the building principal in the absence of the principal as needed
? Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Master's/Doctorate degree in education
• Active and valid PA Principal certification
• Minimum of 5 years working in a professional capacity as a teacher or administrator
COGNITIVE/COMMUNICATION ABILITIES:
• Ability to attend after school events as needed (Board Meetings, back to school nights, etc.)
• Ability to run and attend professional development opportunities
• Ability to utilize technology and personal skills to communicate via phone, meetings, email, etc
