Position Overview: Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School is seeking a dynamic, safety-conscious, and collaborative High School Chemistry Teacher. At UCT, we bridge the gap between abstract theory and practical application. The successful candidate will teach diverse groups of students in grades 9-12, ensuring they master Massachusetts state standards while discovering how chemistry powers our technical world—from the stoichiometry of automotive emissions to the pH balances in Cosmetology and the molecular structures found in Culinary Arts and Health Careers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Integrated Curriculum: Plan and facilitate Chemistry lessons aligned with Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Standards.
Instructional Excellence: Utilize Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and SEI strategies to make complex chemical concepts accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with diverse learning styles.
Laboratory Safety & Management: Maintain a rigorous Chemical Hygiene Plan. Lead hands-on labs with strict adherence to safety protocols, teaching students the proper handling, storage, and disposal of materials.
Classroom Culture: Manage classroom behavior using a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), fostering a professional environment that mirrors the expectations of the modern workplace.
Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze student performance data and MCAS results to provide targeted interventions and close achievement gaps.
Inclusion & Equity: Collaborate with the Special Education department to consistently deliver IEP and 504 accommodations.
Communication: Maintain regular, professional communication with families regarding student progress, utilizing culturally responsive strategies.
