Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or MLT(ASCP) with significant phlebotomy experience or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain staff schedules to ensure coverage and meet patient care needs.
- Collect specimens via venipuncture, heel stick, fingerstick, and other methods as required, including off-site collections, following proper patient identification procedures.
- Train, orient, and evaluate new employees and students; administer corrective actions as needed.
- Develop, maintain, and update specimen procurement policies, procedures, and quality initiatives to improve processes and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate dependability, independent judgment, and professional accountability while prioritizing department needs.
- Promote patient safety and provide clear instructions to patients on specimen collection procedures.
- Interact courteously and professionally with all laboratory customers and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Accurately register patient demographics and laboratory orders into information systems, ensuring data completeness.
- Communicate unusual or problematic incidents to technical staff, supervisors, and pathologists.
- Adhere to all laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, quality control, safety, compliance, and personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in laboratory sciences preferred.
- Three years phlebotomy experience required.
- Hospital phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Medical terminology experience required.
- Prior experience in roles emphasizing a customer service focus required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Communication skills: Must possess good oral and written skills, must be able to communicate effectively with all age groups and populations of internal and external customers as well as co-workers both on the telephone and directly.
- Computer/Typing skills: Knowledge of LIS computer information systems as related to specimen procurement processes and registration preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Must become skilled in the use of LIS.
