UPMC has an opening for a Full-Time Security Officer role at the Lock Haven campus. This position will work 7a-7p and 7p-7a on a variable schedule with weekend and holiday rotations.
This position is eligible for a $1,500 Sign on Bonus for Eligible Candidates! The bonus requires a 2-year commitment to UPMC in a full-time capacity.
Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and all UPMC-owned and adjacent properties. Establishes a uniformed security presence by patrolling UPMC hospitals, buildings, grounds, and associated areas to deter criminal activity, document activities, and contact UPMC Police Officers or other appropriate law enforcement when necessary. Monitors security, fire, and environmental alarms. Responds to and resolves problems, disputes, and unusual circumstances as necessary. Provides customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment. Documents incidents on appropriate reports as required.
Responsibilities:
Security & Patrol Duties
- Establish a uniformed security presence by patrolling UPMC hospitals, buildings, grounds, and associated areas to deter criminal activity, document activities, and contact UPMC Police Officers or other appropriate law enforcement when necessary.
- Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft.
- Monitor security, fire, and environmental alarms; respond and assist when needed.
- Conduct patient escorts and stand‐by details.
- Assist with traffic control and vehicle assists.
- Operate UPMC vehicles in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code.
Incident Response & Reporting
- Respond to and resolve problems, disputes, and unusual circumstances as necessary.
- Report and document incidents, suspicious activities, and hazards.
Customer Service
- Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Special Assignments
- Transport deceased individuals to the morgue and release bodies from the morgue as required.
Compliance & Training
- Maintain required certifications and licensing.
- Complete all mandatory training programs per departmental guidelines.
