What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN, Medical Oncology position at UPMC?
UPMC Western Maryland's Medical Oncology team is excited to welcome a caring and dedicated Professional Staff Nurse to our department! This is a full time position that will work either 8 or 10 hour shifts between the hours of 6:30 am and 6:30 pm. Rotating weekend and holiday shifts are required!
UPMC Western Maryland Schwab Family Cancer Center offers patients access to world-class cancer care in their community and specializes in medical oncology. The Schwab Family Cancer Center is accredited by the Commission on Cancer® and National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center has partnered with community-based hospitals throughout the region to develop one of the largest integrated community networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country.
This position would rotate throughout all the nurse positions in medical oncology. We have our fast track area that provides IV access, patient assessments, port flushes and gives injections. Our blood draw area does patient assessments, port access, and prepares the patients for the providers exam. Our treatment area that performs chemotherapy, antibiotics, blood transfusions as well as other infusion center medications. We also have an exam nurse area that takes phone calls, responds to messages, prepares the patients for their treatments, provides teachings and works right with the medical oncologists.
