UPMC Western Maryland is looking for RNs to support our Cardiovascular Step Down Unit! If you are an experienced RN with a passion for cardiac care, make sure to check out our posting below! We have full-time, part-time, and casual positions available! 

All levels of experience can be considered for this position! Experienced RNs may be eligible for a sign on bonus up to $15,000 with a two year commitment!

As a Registered Nurse with the CVU, you’ll be a key member of our care delivery team, setting high standards for patient care. You’ll have the responsibility, authority, and accountability to provide top-notch nursing care, managing patient care activities with independent judgment and collaboration with the entire team.

In this role, you’ll lead, partner, collaborate, and supervise to ensure the best outcomes for patients and their families. You’ll build strong relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families, working together to achieve desired patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

    • Patient Care:
      • Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment.
      • Formulates daily goals and care plans for patients, involving them as partners and considering their holistic needs.
      • Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues.
      • Practices solid communication skills, articulating and translating patient conditions to other care providers.
      • Negotiates and recommends changes in patient care and unit practices.
      • Ensures comprehensive patient documentation to promote communication between caregivers.
      • Incorporates goals from national professional organizations, business units, and health systems to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
      • Creates a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships.
    • Relationships and Communication:
      • Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally.
      • Demonstrates accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues.
      • Understands cultural differences and holds peers accountable for healthy relationships.
      • Maintains a balance between work and personal life.

    • Teaching and Education:

      • Supports the development of students, new staff, and colleagues; may serve as a preceptor.

      • Actively participates in unit-based shared governance and goal setting.

    • Quality Improvement:
      • Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts.

      • Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support clinical care improvements.
      • Identifies research issues or articles related to clinical specialties or areas of interest.
      • Discusses quality improvement opportunities at multidisciplinary rounds.
      • Influences patients’ plans of care based on quality improvement discussions.
