What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist position at UPMC?
This is a brand-new satellite location! The therapist will have the opportunity to help grow and develop a new site and programming. This is part of a large pediatric therapy department, with approx. 60 outpatient therapists, with access to department in-services, case presentations, etc. This site will also have Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh specialty practice Doctors in the building with ample opportunties for patient collaboration and program development.
Travel may be required for Orientation and Training.
Physical Therapists reviews patient charts, performs initial assessments, develops treatment plans, administers physical therapy treatments and modalities, monitors progress and documents treatments performed with patients (including discharge planning and patient education) in order to increase overall functioning, reduce discomfort, increase or maintain flexibility and range of motion/strength, and achieve other medical and therapeutic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates patient status with physicians & healthcare team.
- Serves as clinical instructor for students, residents, and fellows.
- Maintains licensure through continuing education and professional development.
- Performs assessments, treatments, and supervises PTAs across all age groups; develops and adjusts care plans as needed.
- Rotates through treatment areas to meet organizational needs.
- Actively participates in staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Documents all services per department standards; co-signs PTA notes biweekly.
- Completes charges and statistical data to reflect patient services.
- Provides home instructions to patients and families.
- Schedules patients to meet productivity standards while ensuring quality care.
