UPMC St. Margaret is hiring Pharmacy Interns to join a small team that makes a big impact on patient care across the hospital. This role is perfect for students who are eager to learn, jump in, and build new skills in a supportive environment. Applicants must be enrolled in Pharmacy School. Interns work one weekday evening shift each week from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., plus a rotating weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday with 8‑hour shifts scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Weekend and holiday coverage is required on a rotation, and shift times may change based on department needs.
Responsibilities:
- Supports pharmacists with medication distribution, deliveries, automated dispensing cabinet refills, and emergency cart exchanges
- Fills medication orders, maintains patient profiles, and completes prepackaging
- Prepares IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and controlled substance orders
- Assists with medication review including order entry, allergy checks, formulary compliance, and drug interaction monitoring
- Completes required documentation and billing accurately by the end of each shift
- Uses pharmacy technology, information systems, and robotics to support labeling and dispensing
- Prepares drug information responses and supports medication use evaluations
- Maintains a clean, organized workspace and demonstrates a professional, service‑focused approach
