UPMC Hamot Women's Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the Mom-Baby Unit!
This position is full-time, rotating days and overnights.

1 year of previous patient care experience required.
Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient care, procedures, and daily living activities. Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
- Report patient status changes and provide feedback to RNs. Perform core nursing assistant duties: ADLs, blood glucose, weights, vitals, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care.
- Competent in at least four additional tasks: phlebotomy, EKG, simple dressings, Foley/IV removal, bladder scan, straight catheter, point-of-care testing.
- Report equipment malfunctions and communicate with relevant departments. Respond to call lights, phones, pass meal trays, and transport patients. Accept feedback, identify learning needs, and seek help with prioritization.
- Educate patients/families under RN direction; manage restraints per protocol. Communicate effectively with healthcare team; respect diversity and safety.
- Maintain professional relationships and demonstrate accountability and motivation. Follow all patient care and hospital policies, including safety protocols.
- Support departmental changes, projects, and quality initiatives. Document care accurately and perform clerical duties as needed.
- Ensure timely, productive completion of assigned tasks. Limited medication access—only to distribute to nurses.
- In addition to the required standard competencies, the Patient Care Technician will achieve and maintain competency and/or perform at least 1 or more of the following advanced skills based on department operational need: phlebotomy/venipuncture, peripheral IV removal, indwelling Foley catheter removal, basic arrythmia, 12-lead EKG, and NG tubes clamping and removal.
