UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is currently hiring full-time Nursing Instructors to join their rapidly growing team of life changers!

Completion of an MSN program is required for the Nursing Instructor title. Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects the level of education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer. 

The individual hired into this role provide clinical instruction to the part-time SHY SON program; the instructor will be required to teach every other Saturday and Sunday clinical throughout the academic year.

The mission of UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is to foster the development of an entry-level graduate nurse who is prepared to transition to practice as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team. The school is part of UPMC Shadyside which is part of the UPMC health system. The focus of our program is mastery of high-level competencies reflecting the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the delivery of safe, quality nursing care.

The nursing instructor is a nursing professional who has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for both the didactic and clinical instruction of students in utilizing the nursing process to provide quality patient care. This position requires the ability to effectively instruct nursing students in the classroom as well as lead the faculty within the course to provide meaningful learning experiences, guide and evaluate the students in the clinical environment while utilizing the nursing process during the provision of care to ensure safe nursing care and quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and upholds the organization's mission and values. Acts as a communication role model to enhance nursing practice. Fosters a positive organizational climate through trust, respect, and professionalism.
  • Develops strategies to address diverse learning needs with dignity and respect. Functions effectively in a complex educational setting and manages conflicts efficiently. Coaches students on cultural diversity and civility and values differences.
  • Maintains active professional membership and engages in continuous professional development. Uses feedback for self-improvement and shares expertise with faculty and healthcare team members. Encourages innovation and participates in school leadership and committee work.
  • Keeps up with professional knowledge through education and conferences. Supports diverse learners and builds positive relationships within the healthcare team.
  • Applies critical thinking and clinical judgment in teaching and evaluation. Utilizes effective teaching strategies and provides quality instruction. Designs evidence-based teaching methods and participates in quality improvement and evaluation.
  • Encourages innovative teaching strategies and contributes to educational development at UPMC Schools of Nursing. Demonstrates leadership and commitment to nursing and school goals, serving as a professional role model and co-chair of committees.

Salary : $1,000 - $1,000,000
