Join our outstanding lab team at UPMC Hamot as a full-time Laboratory Support Technician on second shift (1:45 PM – 10:15 PM). This role follows a steady four-week rotating schedule, including a variety of days (Sunday through Saturday), two weekends every four weeks, and rotating holidays. In this role, there is opportunity to -
- Receive and prepare specimens for analysis by sorting, labeling, and delivering them to appropriate laboratory sections.
- Answer phone inquiries, investigate specimen status, and direct callers to appropriate resources as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and temperature checks on laboratory instruments following established protocols.
- Restock laboratory supplies and maintain clean, organized storage areas for all supply types (room temperature, refrigerated, frozen).
- Prepare and replenish reagents, consumables, and media required for instruments and microbiologic procedures.
- Execute assigned QA/QC procedures and resolve pending or unprocessed work items from laboratory worklists.
- Decontaminate work surfaces and clean glassware to ensure a safe, compliant laboratory environment.
- Transport specimens and deliver laboratory supplies
