We're searching for a Labor and Employee Relations Consultant to join our HR Compliance team! This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule and requires regional travel.
In this role, the Labor and Employee Relations Consultant will provide input and guidance to attorneys, management, and staff of UPMC facilities in multiple matters including, but not limited to administration of HR policies, collective bargaining agreements, negotiations, arbitration, claims and/or charges before various government agencies dealing with EEO, Labor and Health and Safety, and cost analysis for collective bargaining. They'll partner with UPMC leaders to develop and implement proactive positive employee relations and engagement strategies. Additionally, they'll develop and facilitate training content to support UPMC's talent value proposition and proactive positive employee relations.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in and conduct in-service programs on Labor and Employee Relations issues such as proactive positive employee relations for staff and management.
- Facilitate leader training to ensure their ability to manage in a union environment.
- Collaborate with human resources leadership to review metrics such as exit interview data, turnover analysis, or focused interviews and implement solutions to improve outcomes.
- Serve as primary resource to UPMC facility leaders and attorneys in the day-to-day administration and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
- Analyze issues and data to inform recommended resolutions arising both prior to and during collective bargaining negotiations.
- May support compliance with reporting requirements set forth in the UPMC collective bargaining agreements i.e., seniority lists, monthly reports, dues deductions, pension contributions, etc.
- May serve as member of the negotiating committee during collective bargaining and provide informational support and advice during negotiations including review of grievances arbitrations and/or unfair labor practice charges as necessary.
- May prepare final collective bargaining agreements for signature.
- Ensure implementation of payroll/benefit changes for bargaining unit staff.
- Maintain background information and bargaining history related to the collective bargaining negotiation process for current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Investigate, research, and draft written responses for grievance response, preparation for arbitrations, and responding to numerous governmental agencies in all Labor and Employee Relations matters.
- Maintain continuous knowledge of employment and labor related laws, rulings and regulations. Provide research and explanation as necessary or requested.
- Participate in Management campaigns during Union organization attempts including providing education, training and written communication as required.
- Serve as resource to Human Resources in administering progressive discipline, reviewing and interpreting collective bargaining agreements, and policy questions.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
