Position Requirements
- A two-year work commitment is required with acceptance of the sign-on bonus
- Job title and compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and certifications
Your Role as an EMT
As an EMT at UPMC, you will provide transport and basic life support care in the pre-hospital setting. This includes wheelchair, stretcher van, and ambulance transports for both emergency and non-emergency patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency and non-emergency patient transport, both locally and long-distance
- Assist with patient restraint when necessary and ensure patient and team safety
- Perform patient assessments and deliver basic life support care for patients of all ages
- Operate ambulances, wheelchair vans, and passenger vehicles safely under routine and emergency conditions, in compliance with Pennsylvania Vehicle Code and Department of Health regulations
- Perform automatic external defibrillation (AED) when indicated
- Accurately complete patient care reports and required state documentation
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment checks and report maintenance needs
- Communicate effectively with the Lycoming County Communications Center and Fire/EMS units using radio and cellular systems
- Support operational needs including restocking supplies, equipment cleaning, inventory maintenance, specimen transport, and equipment transfers
- Independently perform transports for special-needs patients using custodial care coaching when required
