UPMC Williamsport is seeking a Credentialing Specialist to support the physician and allied health credentialing, privileging, and monitoring process. This role is responsible for application management, primary source verification, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of credentialing and clinical privileging systems. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position (40 hours/week), 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the credentialing, privileging, and monitoring process for physicians and allied health professionals, including application management and primary source verification.
- Coordinate the privileges process, including preparation and presentation of requested privileges with validated qualifications to the Medical Staff Credentials Committee.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and clinical privileging database system.
- Lead Medical Staff Leadership toward successful completion of credentialing requirements, including primary source verification and application data validation.
- Provide support for the reappointment process.
- Establish and ensure effective monitoring processes for new physicians in accordance with departmental bylaws.
- Participate in developing strategies to improve the effectiveness, consistency, and overall quality of the credentialing process.
- Establish and track data related to Medical Staff recruitment and resignations.
- Prepare agendas, attend assigned meetings, and author meeting minutes.
- Provide administrative and office support for the department and Medical Staff, including making arrangements for meeting rooms and food services.
