Primary Purpose:

The Manager of Character, Conduct, and Support will develop, coordinate, and maintain high-quality scholar behavior management and discipline programs and practices (anchored in a Restorative Philosophy) across the Uplift Education school network, as assigned by the Director of Character, Conduct, and Support and under the direction of the Chief Well-Being Officer. This position will continually grow and improve the restorative discipline framework for Uplift schools, help revise and enforce the Uplift Education Scholar Code of Character, Conduct, and Support, and use relevant data to generate effective behavior management processes and interventions. The Manager of Character, Conduct, and Support will also act as a formal expulsion hearing officer for the network and a consultant on other serious disciplinary incidents.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, develops, and maintains scholar discipline and behavior management programs and systems, anchored in Character, Conduct, and Support, across the Uplift Education school network, as assigned by the Director of Character, Conduct, and Support.
  • Serves as the lead point of contact related to scholar disciplinary practices and manages and coordinates logistics of related processes for Uplift Education.
  • Coaches, consults, and oversees the training of all Academic Directors, Deans, and Scholar Support Specialists on discipline matters anchored on the Code of Character, Conduct, and Support, and Restorative Practices.
  • Serves as a direct supervisor for the network's Scholar Support Specialist and creates/leads professional development scope, develops an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Oversees the collection and maintenance of disciplinary data and the preparation of reports for submission to the Texas Education Agency, such as reports regarding PEIMS data, expulsions, and other required reports.
  • Convenes and manages an annual task force to revise the Scholar Code of Character, Conduct, and Support, from a Restorative and SEL perspective.
  • Coordinates the continual evaluation of the quality of discipline and restorative programs and any related external partnerships.
  • Coordinates all expulsion hearings and assists in serving as the expulsion hearing officer, ensuring due process in all cases.
  • Guides, directs, advises, and participates in serious discipline processes and problems, including scholar suspension and expulsion cases.
  • Interprets, prepares, and disseminates information related to State and federal law as it pertains to scholarly discipline and due process.
  • Provides support and presentations to the network and community with respect to issues related to Character, Conduct, and Support, discipline as needed.
  • Partners with the community and other organizations with respect to developing appropriate discipline and behavior management protocols.
  • Develops a comprehensive needs assessment to determine organizational scholar discipline-related needs and then works with department administration to craft a multi-year strategic plan to effectively meet those needs.
  • Develops and implements programs and strategies designed to obtain higher levels of parental satisfaction with discipline programs and greater parent access to related services and educational experiences provided by Uplift Education.
  • Maintains relevant components of Character, Conduct, and Support in Uplink and other web-based resources connected to the scholar discipline.
  • Analyzes program risks and produces accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and has a clear understanding of the SST process, IB traits, Character, Conduct, and Support, and other programs connected to Social Emotional Learning.


Education, Experience, And/or Certification(s)

  • Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree required, concentration in a related field of study preferred.
    • Master's degree in Education, Restorative Practice, Counseling, or Educational Administration is highly preferred.
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Required professional experience includes a deep knowledge of scholarly discipline practices and a belief in the effectiveness of Character, Conduct, and Support.
    • A history of successful program development and management, and demonstrated experience designing and delivering highly effective training.
  • Special Skills/Certifications:
    • Content knowledge in Character, Conduct and Support , social emotional learning, scholar behavior, and behavior management techniques.
    • Teaching Certificate mandatory
    • Certified Educator in Character, Conduct, and Support, Applied Behavior Analyst Certification or Registered Behavior Technician preferred but not required.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Communication Skills: Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual Skills: Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Technology: Candidates must be fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of tools and other technology applications required for this role.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level is low to high and may have frequent interruptions. There may be activity from other employees and scholars of a distracting nature. Employee will be required to travel to various campuses throughout the Network. Travel between 50% - 80% of the time.

Starting Salary: $85,000
