Performs and supervises the performance of nightly custodial tasks that provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work and conduct school activities.

Primary Purpose:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all campus facilities and grounds are properly maintained
- Direct and monitor the work of custodians at assigned campus.
- Help to screen, select, and train custodians.
- Direct, schedule, and assist in setting up facilities for special events.
- Provide on-the-job training to campus custodians on proper cleaning techniques and track the completion progress of online training for the team
- Provide planning partnership in preparation for campus custodian vacations and days off
- Assume responsibility for closing buildings each school day by setting the burglar alarm at the end of day.
- Maintains campus buildings, facilities, grounds and equipment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance
- Implement and maintain an established cleaning schedule that will include cleaning floors, markerboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies as needed
- Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency
- Perform periodic campus janitorial evaluations
- Provide emergency assistance in response to floods, sewage back-ups, vandalism, or other incidents
- Responds to emergency situations in order to confine, resolve or prevent injurious or otherwise hazardous conditions
- Assist with cafeteria dining area set up, including arranging tables and chairs for morning use
- Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to the Operations Director
- Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the Operations Director
- Oversee procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to Operations Director
- Manage and report emergencies to the Operations Director
- Maintain Campus SDS sheets
- Move furniture and other heavy items for proper floor maintenance or cleaning as required
- Transport janitorial supplies and equipment as needed
- Use appropriate hand tools, power tools and specialty tools and equipment
- Maintain equipment, tool inventory, tool accountability, service stock supply inventory (as applicable)
- Work with and perform basic maintenance on janitorial equipment such as walk-behind scrubbers, ride-on scrubbers and buffing machines
- Enforce vendor contracts and rectify any issues with vendors related to facilities
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
- Using Microsoft Excel, maintain a schedule for non-routine contracted janitorial services such as floor strip and wax operations, summer deep cleaning and carpet shampooing
- Maintain campus records, receipts and service orders using the Microsoft Office Suite and other software
- Use a computer based ticketing system to track service and repair orders
- Additional duties as assigned
- Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 years' experience in the janitorial service industry or 2 years' experience in building maintenance or 4 years' experience in housekeeping industry. Experience working in a school environment preferred but not required.
- Special Sills/Certifications: Experience with quality control checks.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical instructions. Ability to respond to respond to and resolve common complaints. Ability to effectively present information to campus and central office management. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
- Bi-lingual Sills: Basic Spanish speaking skills required, fluency preferred.
- Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess above average knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (chiefly Excel and Outlook) and ability to learn and use computer software to track and report the budget for facilities. Ability to use basic office equipment. This position will also require the ability to learn how to operate a burglar alarm. Applicant must also be able to use a smart phone with e-mail applications.
