Role Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the execution, enforcement, and consistency of retail operations across all dispensary locations and select operational support functions. This role requires frequent travel between locations to ensure strong field presence, operational discipline, and leadership visibility.
Given the travel-intensive nature of the position, the role operates within a hybrid work environment, balancing active on-site leadership with remote work to support work–life balance, sustainability, and effectiveness. The Operations Manager is expected to maintain regular in-store presence while utilizing remote work time for planning, reporting, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
Core Responsibilities
Store Operations Execution
- Oversee day-to-day operational performance across all retail locations.
- Maintain consistent on-site leadership through regular store visits, audits, and operational reviews.
- Ensure execution of SOPs, service standards, and operational workflows.
- Identify execution gaps and implement corrective actions in real time.
Purchasing Oversight & Sales Alignment
- Provide functional oversight of the Purchasing department to ensure buying decisions align with in-store sales initiatives, promotional strategies, and customer demand.
- Collaborate with store leadership to identify product performance trends and assortment gaps.
- Ensure timely execution of product launches, vendor promotions, and merchandising initiatives at store level.
- Escalate systemic purchasing risks or inventory imbalances to the VP of Retail Operations.
Compliance Execution & Discipline
- Enforce Ohio DCC rules and internal compliance standards at the store level.
- Partner with the Compliance team to ensure training, documentation, and remediation are completed accurately and on time.
- Lead store-level responses to compliance findings, audits, and corrective actions.
- Ensure METRC accuracy, inventory integrity, and adherence to control procedures.
People Leadership & Accountability
- Directly manage and coach General Managers and store leadership teams.
- Ensure staffing models, leadership coverage, and training completion meet operational needs.
- Address performance issues, policy violations, and operational breakdowns promptly and consistently.
- Reinforce company culture through clear expectations and accountability.
Cross-Department Implementation
- Execute initiatives developed by Marketing, Ecommerce, Training, Compliance, and Purchasing teams at the store level.
- Ensure clear communication and adoption of new programs, tools, and processes.
- Provide feedback to centralized teams on execution challenges and opportunities.
- Partner closely with the VP of Retail Operations to refine execution strategy.
Operational Reporting & Feedback Loop
- Track operational and sales-adjacent KPIs related to execution and product performance.
- Identify trends impacting store performance, customer experience, and inventory health.
- Escalate recurring issues and improvement recommendations to the VP of Retail Operations.
Qualifications
- Multi-unit retail management experience (regulated or cannabis retail preferred)
- Experience overseeing or collaborating closely with purchasing/merchandising functions
- Strong operational discipline with high attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage leaders and drive accountability
- Comfortable operating in a hybrid, travel-intensive leadership role
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
