Senior Product Analyst - P&C Insurance

Upland Capital Group, Inc. is an AM Best rated “A-” VIII specialty property/casualty insurer headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Through its wholly owned insurance carrier, Upland Specialty Insurance Company, the company markets, underwrites and services specialty insurance products in select markets to include excess transportation, construction casualty, excess casualty, primary general liability, excess public entity, professional liability errors and omissions as well as excess cyber liability.

We focus on “old school” underwriting as a craft, add “new school” analytics and technology, and encourage a gritty, growth mindset among people called “we entrepreneurs.”

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are seeking a Cloud Support Engineer to join our amazing team.

Primary Function:

Within our Risk, Analytics, and Data (RA&D) team, we focus on Actuarial, Data Science, Data and Model Engineering, and Enterprise Risk Management functions.  Our vision is to build highly automated and efficient processes to build, test, and deploy our models and products for enhancing actuarial, underwriting, and claim insights with timely and relevant data-driven analytics and technology. We look to create solutions requiring creative problem solving and close collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, not limited by a ‘one size fits all’ mindset. This vision requires a high level of organization and collaboration to ensure our goals and objectives are met.

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting challenges every day. We are looking for a Senior Product Analyst to join our Risk, Analytics and Data (RAD) team to support data, analytics, and technology initiatives involving high levels of collaboration across the organization. This role will report to the Director, Analytics Product Management.

Why This Role Matters.  With significant initiatives planned for 2026 and beyond—including model implementations, AI integration projects, and rating platform enhancements—we need someone who can operate at the intersection of analytics and execution. You'll work on high-visibility projects, have significant autonomy, and directly impact the company's analytical capabilities. This role offers growth potential and the opportunity to shape how a fast-moving team tackles complex problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Projects Forward
    • Jump into diverse analytical projects and get them moving quickly, even in unfamiliar domains
    • Build relationships across teams rapidly and coordinate effectively without existing networks
    • Identify gaps in projects and step in to fill them—whether that's ad hoc analysis, process design, or technical review
    • Support various analytical projects utilizing AI tools such as Claude Code, including workflow integration and practical implementation
  • Analytical Problem-Solving
    • Conduct deep analytical work when needed—you should be comfortable getting into the weeds
    • Review technical implementations for accuracy and business alignment
    • Develop ad hoc and routine analytical solutions in collaboration with technical teams
    • Work across multiple analytical domains: pricing, claims, modeling, data engineering, and more
  • Lead Implementation & Coordination
    • Take ownership of implementing analytical models and data science projects across the organization
    • Coordinate with actuaries, data scientists, product managers, and engineers to bring complex initiatives to life
    • Bridge technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring everyone speaks the same language
    • Monitor data flows and build systems to ensure implementations are accurate and sustainable

Support the execution of other various department projects and strategies when needed

Experience, Education, Special Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required (5 years of experience required in lieu of degree)
  • 3 years of product analyst experience within the P&C insurance industry
  • Proficient with workflow and PM tools (e.g., Jira, Monday.com) and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence)
  • Experience using AI tools beyond Conversational AI, such as Claude Code, and well versed in understanding differing AI capabilities
  • Experience working with data, analytics, and model engineering teams
  • Experience working cross-functionally across business and technical teams, including very strong ability to build solid working relationships and deliver results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with non-technical users
  • Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Basic understanding of technical topics (e.g., software development, data engineering, model deployment, Python, Git, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Self-starter, quick learner, and creative problem solver that thrives in a flexible, fast paced, and remote work environment
