Core Function | The CNC Machinist will program, set up, and operate CNC milling and turning centers to produce precision components used in tooling and production for UPG’s plastic injection operations. This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of taking projects from blueprint to finished part with minimal supervision. | |

Education Requirements | High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; and 2-Year Technical Degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or related field. Experience can be substituted for education. | |

Training Requirements | Formal training in Mastercam (or equivalent CAM software) and G-code programming from an accredited technical college or apprenticeship program is preferred. NIMS or Mastercam certification is a plus. | |

Experience Requirements | Minimum 4 years of combined CNC programming and machine operation experience on 3-axis mills and/or lathes in a production environment. Must be able to program from scratch and run production independently. Experience in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume shop preferred. | |

Skills Requirements | • Proficient in Mastercam (or Fusion 360/Siemens NX) for 3-axis toolpath generation • Strong G-code and M-code knowledge with hands-on editing capability • Blueprint reading with GD&T proficiency • Setup and operation of 3-axis CNC mills (Haas, DMG Mori, Doosan preferred) • Precision measurement and inspection techniques • Fixture design and work-holding solutions • Basic preventive maintenance on CNC machines (spindle, way covers, coolant systems) • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for job tracking • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for documentation | |
