Role Purpose
The Tool & Die Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating molds, dies, and tooling used in the manufacturing process. This role ensures equipment operates efficiently and safely while supporting production and quality goals. The technician performs bench work using lathes, grinders, and hand tools, collaborates with internal teams and external vendors, and implements preventive and corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Scope & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot problems with injection molds and advise on repair strategies.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions to improve tooling reliability and reduce downtime.
- Use tools and dies to build fixtures and create dies as required for new fixture construction.
- Repair dies, molds, and tools; disassemble and reassemble molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures as needed.
- Perform mold preventive maintenance to extend lifespan and maintain quality.
- Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors for outsourced repairs and compliance requirements.
- Work with various departments to address customer concerns related to tooling and production.
- Ensure safety rules are followed, report all safety problems and injuries, and maintain plant safety and 5S housekeeping standards.
- Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions.
Work Experience & Skills
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year technical degree preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.
Experience: Minimum 4 years supporting a full-service tooling department; bench work using lathes and grinders (CNC not required but a plus).

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work environment includes manufacturing floor with exposure to noise, dust, and mechanical hazards; must follow safety protocols and wear required PPE. Occasional office or vendor site work may occur.
- Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly.
- Close visual acuity required for inspecting small parts, using measurement devices, assembly, or operating machinery.
