As an Event Cook / Culinary Lead, you’ll support or lead onsite culinary operations, from prep to plating to service, ensuring every event runs smoothly and every guest feels taken care of. You’ll represent Up North Eats with professionalism, warmth, and pride in your craft.
Duties
- Event menu execution — Prepare and cook dishes for private dinners and small events, ensuring excellent flavor and presentation
- Guest‑facing service — Interact with clients and guests in a polished, friendly manner while maintaining professionalism
- Onsite leadership — Lead or support the flow of service, including plating, timing, and coordination with staff
- Food prep & organization — Complete ingredient prep, maintain a clean workspace, and follow food‑safety standards
- Event setup & teardown — Assist with buffet or plated dinner setup, service, and cleanup
- Dietary accommodations — Adapt dishes as needed for allergies or guest preferences
- Team collaboration — Work closely with other cooks and servers to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Professional flexibility — Adjust to last‑minute changes, unique home kitchens, and varying event environments
Requirements
- Culinary or food‑service experience — Prep cook, line cook, banquet, or event‑based cooking experience preferred
- Strong communication — Comfortable interacting with guests and working with a small team
- Food‑safety knowledge — Understanding of safe handling, sanitation, and temperature control
- Leadership ability — For Culinary Lead applicants: ability to guide a small team and manage service flow
- Attention to detail — Pride in presentation, timing, and consistency
- Physical capability — Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for the duration of the shift
- Reliable transportation — Must be able to travel to private residences and event locations
- Minimum age: 18
