As a 222-bed specialty care hospital, UP Health System - Marquette receives patients from across the UP and provides care in 65 specialties and subspecialties. Its medical staff of more than 200 doctors work as a team with its more than 1,800 employees in caring for approximately 9,000 inpatients and more than 350,000 outpatients per year.
Marquette's major services include its Heart & Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine Center, Rehabilitation Center, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management Center and Women's Health, Family Birthing, and Pediatrics Center. The hospital also provides the region's premier services in imaging, surgery and laboratory and is home to the UP-Telehealth Network, a leading telehealth network in the nation. We also service many of the communities in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, with 42 primary and specialty care clinics spread throughout the region.
The City of Marquette is located in the central region of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. With a population of 21,335, it is the UP's largest community. In addition to being a population center, it serves as the regional center for education, healthcare, recreation and retail offering amazing arts and culture opportunities, stellar schools. How You'll Contribute
A Paramedic who excels in this role:
- Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
- Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
- Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
- Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
- Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
- Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.

A Paramedic must Successfully complete MDHHS approved Paramedic course and have a Paramedic License in the state or Michigan. Additional requirements include:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
- Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS) (Preferred)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (Preferred)
- Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent (preferred)
- 6 months field experience in EMS (Preferred)
