How you will contribute

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) who excels in this role:

• Assists the RN in the assessment of the patients' needs in conjunction with the individualized plan of care for each patient.

• Follow established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.

• Administer medication accurately in compliance with hospital policy and procedure. Documents patient care given.

• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.

• Provides care that reflects the patient care plan and evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes.

• Assists in patient/patient representative teaching (re: knowledge deficit of treatment plan for current health problems) as directed.

• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

• 3 Years’ experience working in a surgical environment.

• Prior experience prepping patients for procedures pre-operatively and post-operatively.
