The Math Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for planning and delivering engaging math instruction to 5th and 6th grade students, aligned with the academy’s innovative and experiential learning approach.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing lesson plans, teaching core mathematics concepts, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs, assessing student progress, and providing timely feedback. The Math Teacher collaborates with colleagues and support staff to integrate real-world applications into the curriculum, participates in school-wide rituals and community-building activities, and maintains clear communication with families about student growth. The role also involves contributing to curriculum development, attending professional development sessions, and supporting special programs such as Special Education, Emergent Bilingual, and Gifted and Talented as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, with the ability to teach grade-appropriate concepts clearly and effectively.
- 2 years of experience with Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development that support experiential learning, differentiation, and real-world applications preferred
- Texas Teacher Certification or willing to enroll in a Texas Teacher Certification Program
- Effective classroom management skills, strong communication and collaboration abilities, and commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field; advanced degree or specialized training in mathematics education or curriculum and instruction is a plus.
