Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Farm Worker to join our farm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting daily farm operations, including animal care, crop maintenance, equipment operation, and general farm upkeep. Duties
- Assist with planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting crops using appropriate horticultural and greenhouse techniques.
- Provide care for livestock and poultry, ensuring proper feeding, watering, and health monitoring.
- Operate farm machinery such as tractors, forklifts, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform equipment repairs and maintenance, including welding and use of hand tools and power tools.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal water distribution for crops and plants.
- Supervise or assist with the supervision of farm workers or seasonal staff as needed.
- Handle animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and health assessments.
- Maintain farm infrastructure including fencing, greenhouses, and storage facilities through routine repairs and upkeep.
- Use basic math skills for measurement tasks, inventory management, and record keeping.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed during all operations involving heavy lifting or heavy equipment operation.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in farming, agriculture, horticulture, or animal husbandry is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance is advantageous.
- Experience with animal handling, equine care, or livestock management is a plus.
- Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, welding, irrigation systems, and greenhouse operations is beneficial.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts or other farm machinery safely.
- Supervisory experience is desirable but not required; leadership skills are a plus.
- Strong physical stamina capable of heavy lifting and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic math skills for measurements and record keeping are necessary.
- Knowledge of farming practices including crop growing techniques and equipment maintenance is preferred.
