General Summary:
This position is charged with leveraging deep behavioral health expertise and passion for educating to drive organizational culture change around behavioral health and develop mental health champions within Unum and the companies we serve. To do so, this position is responsible for leading the design, development, delivery, measurement, and maintenance of the learning and development components of Unum’s Behavioral Health Solution, as well as providing support to the broader Expanded Solutions organization as needed. This position will also be responsible for facilitating the Mental Health First Aid Training to Unum Customers who purchase the Behavioral Health Solution.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes, designs, develops, delivers and maintains learner-centered solutions that deliver on individual and business outcomes.
- Consults with clients, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to understand and clarify desired objectives/outcomes, scope, audience and timing.
- Researches available learning solutions (internal and external) to meet business and learner needs.
- Utilizes a flexible range of learning delivery modes which include a blend of methods, such as on-demand/e-learning, classroom (including virtual), social learning and/or mentoring.
- Participates in proofs of concept and prototyping of solutions, as appropriate.
- Applies knowledge of learning practices, as well as internal and external trends to learning solutions. Actively seeks to evolve and modernize our approach to learning effectiveness.
- As a trusted business partner, initiates collaboration with key stakeholders and uses influencing skills to gain genuine understanding and agreement on learning solutions implemented.
- Collaborates with others by sharing lessons learned, best practices and insights that can strengthen the solutions delivered.
- Active contributor to team’s lean or agile work practices which may include weekly planning, regular team stand ups and periodic reviews/retrospectives.
- Collects and analyzes data, including utilization metrics and trends, business indicators and partner feedback.
- Communicates findings including learner proficiency and program performance to partners and stakeholders to identify and respond to continuous improvement opportunities. This may include ongoing management of production beyond learning delivery.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders on vendor offerings to ensure a smooth, high-quality delivery, as applicable.
- Models leadership behaviors that align with “We Are Unum” statements and lead to measurable and on-going improvements in the team’s overall effectiveness and success.
- Focuses on delivering business priority results and value at all times.

Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preference in business, learning & development or related field or equivalent related work experience is preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully facilitating and delivering sessions & concepts to audiences of all levels.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing or Master's degree in Behavioral Health or Social Science or related field, preferred.
- Work experience in Behavioral Health, preferably in managed care, preferred.
- Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification, preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years industry, business or learning experience.
- Applies strong understanding of own department goals and good general understanding of overall business to facilitate critical thinking and operating effectiveness.
- Ability to understand and apply core tenants of learning design/methodology and synthesize good instructional design methodology with alternative delivery methods such as classroom, web-based, virtual classroom, social networking, and self-study.
- Understanding of modern web technologies and interaction patterns.
- Takes a logical, analytical, organized approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated focus on results and delivering on commitments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with measuring learning effectiveness as it relates to learner experience and business objectives.
