unm
Albuquerque, NM Full Time
POSTED ON 1/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/28/2026

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is expanding and seeks an outstanding corneal surgeon to join our rapidly growing group.

Applicants must have completed an accredited cornea and external disease fellowship. Refractive surgery experience is welcome but not essential. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existing faculty for call and medical student and resident education. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research in an academic setting.  As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a rewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care.

UNM is committed to building a healthy, well-educated, economically vigorous New Mexico. The Health Sciences Center and School of Medicine have new leadership, and the entire institution is well poised for the future.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment for good reason.  Albuquerque is a culturally rich and naturally beautiful city, with good weather year-round, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. The Sandia Mountain wilderness is 20 minutes from UNM. There is a lively arts scene, and we are close to the galleries of Santa Fe and Madrid, NM. There are two national laboratories nearby: Sandia and Los Alamos.
