Under the direction of the Director of Residence Life & Student Housing, and the direct supervision of the Senior Marketing Representative, this position plays an integral role in sharing and promoting the on-campus experience to current and prospective residents.
UNM Residence Life & Student Housing endeavors to foster inclusive, community-based living environments consciously designed for our residents’ personal growth and academic success in well-maintained facilities. The marketing intern position will contribute to the department’s mission by providing support to the marketing unit through quality outreach about on-campus housing options, programs, and benefits.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supports Residence Life & Student Housing marketing efforts and campaigns
- Oversees the duties of the ambassadors, and in addition, provides immediate support in the supervision of the UNM Housing tour program. Working closely with the Sr. Marketing Rep, duties may include scheduling of tour staff, assigning and delegating tours to Residence Life Ambassadors and data entry of tour visits into database system
- Assists in managing and scheduling housing presentations on behalf of various campus partners and tours for prospective residents and school excursions who are visiting the University campus
- Utilizes social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter. Instagram, etc. in addition to other approved marketing techniques to promote community events, activities, and programs
- Markets and promotes UNM Housing to prospective residents
- Assists with special events geared toward newly admitted students, current residents, and prospective residents
- Assists in coaching and training sessions as directed
- Attends and photographs residence hall events, activities and programs across communities and student organizations
- Maintains and updates asset library of photographic content for future use
- Audits and proofs UNM Housing’s web site for updates, content, and accuracy
- Creates and maintains marketing files, records, content calendars, logs and other documents
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
This is a fixed-term position, typically up to 24 months.
Experience in and/or ability to perform the following functions:
- Experience living in the campus residence halls, preferably with UNM Residence Life & Student Housing
- Ability to produce accurate, quality work
- Experience with each phase of the RLSH marketing cycle
- Ability to coach and train student staff as directed by the Sr. Marketing Representative
- Ability to produce quality, well-designed promotional content
- Experience proofing and editing written content intended for distribution via print, web, and email
- Strong interpersonal skills and ethics
- Experience presenting information to a large and diverse population in-person or virtually
- Ability to understand and follow specific and detailed instructions and procedures
- General experience with photography and social media
- Some experience with creative software such as Photoshop, In-design, PowerPoint, etc. as well as social media platforms
- Ability to use and adhere to a content/editorial calendar
