The School of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2026. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent terminal degree) in public administration, public affairs, or related field by August 1, 2026. For best consideration, all application materials must be received by 01/02/2026.
Applicants must demonstrate evidence of scholarly excellence and potential for successful research and teaching. The new faculty member will primarily teach courses for students in the Master of Public Administration program, including core and required graduate courses and supervise master’s students. Course topics include human resources, personnel management, representative bureaucracy, and equal opportunity in public or nonprofit sectors. The successful candidate will also be able to teach and conduct research across these areas of interest. Preferred qualifications will be given to applicants who can demonstrate the ability to conduct research and teach in these areas. Other teaching and research areas may include public or nonprofit service delivery and implementation, community development, and tribal governance. There may also be opportunities to teach in other undergraduate and graduate programs.
