Registered Dietitian - Internal Medicine

This position is responsible for providing outpatient nutrition management services to patients through the UNLV Health Internal Medicine department.

• Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM (actual work hours may vary depending on business need)

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                         

• Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Certification required 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related field required

• Completion of dietetic internship and trainee program or equivalent required

RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                               

• Provides diabetes self-management education according to the ADCES Diabetes Care and Education Curriculum

• Provides Nutrition consultation in the assigned interdisciplinary specialty clinics

• Assumes a proactive role with patient/family education and patient/family satisfaction in the practice setting

• Assumes personal accountability to enhance the patient experience by using high quality, patient satisfaction-directed interactions/tools/activities in the execution of duties

• Always interacts with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner, at all times

• Documents nutrition care plans and recommendations and ensures timely availability of information for inclusion in the interdisciplinary care plan

• Participates in training of staff, students, and residents; and as requested by Department Manager, mentors, and provides education on areas of expertise

• May include working with challenging patients and clients

• May include lifting up to 25 pounds
