What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Import Buyer (East Region) position at Unlimited Potential?
As a Senior Import Buyer for Bunzl Distribution, you will own the end‑to‑end flow of inventory and purchase orders into our domestic Mixing Centers (hubs), ensuring strong in‑stock performance across our spoke locations. This is a highly visible, strategic role within Bunzl’s Import Supply Chain team, directly impacting service levels, inventory health, and operational efficiency across the network.
In this role, you will act as a key supply chain thought leader—anticipating risk, optimizing inbound flow, and driving continuous improvement through data‑driven decision‑making. You will partner closely with suppliers and cross‑functional stakeholders to balance service, inventory, and space constraints while supporting Bunzl’s long‑term growth.
This role is day shift, M-F, in office at any of our Eastern HUB locations (St. Louis MO, Dallas TX, Kansas City MO, Indianapolis IN, Atlanta GA, Winston-Salem NC, Worcester MA, Monmouth Junction NJ, Perth Amboy NJ or York PA).
Responsibilities:
- Place, manage, and oversee purchase orders with international suppliers to support network demand
- Track inbound shipments and maintain accurate ETAs based on logistics updates and changing conditions
- Identify and resolve supply disruptions, timing issues, and inventory risks
- Prioritize inbound shipments and optimize container sequencing to maximize fill rates to spoke locations
- Own inventory health for assigned Mixing Centers, including projected on‑hand, replenishment strategy, order cycles, and inventory turns
- Drive mitigation strategies for dead and excess inventory while balancing service and space constraints
- Conduct stock‑out and low‑stock reviews to anticipate future risk and develop action plans
- Communicate shortages, timing gaps, and recovery plans clearly to spoke locations and internal partners
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations, logistics, procurement, and planning teams on mitigation actions such as expedites, substitutions, and prioritization
- Anticipate demand across the network and adjust supply plans accordingly
- Leverage Blue Yonder and internal systems to support data‑based decision making and maintain high data integrity
- Generate actionable insights and reporting tied to service, inventory, and operational performance
- The Key Performance Metrics (KPI) you will be measured against are, Fill Rate / Service Level, Inventory Turns, Overstock & Dead Inventory, Space Utilization, Temporary Storage Spend, Purchase Order Accuracy and On‑Time Delivery
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management (import experience strongly preferred)
- Intermediate to advanced experience with AS400 & Blue Yonder or similar supply chain systems
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with cross‑functional partners at all levels of the organization
- Advanced organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively in a fast‑paced environment

- Bunzl US salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 based on experience, education and geographic location.
