Job Description: Job Summary Responsible for providing direct patient care and administering respiratory therapy under supervision in accordance with student licensure guidelines. Assists respiratory services staff by preparing, cleaning, and disinfecting equipment and monitoring supply and storage areas. Supports clinicians by responding to equipment and supply requests and performing EKGs as assigned. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards for equipment storage and cleanliness. Contributes to safe and effective respiratory care delivery within the scope of practice. Essential Functions • Completes basic patient care treatments and procedures within the scope of the KBRC student license and in accordance with department and hospital guidelines. • Performs all clinical respiratory therapy skills according to established guidelines, policies, and requirements, as well as applicable laws and regulations. • Performs 12-lead EKG and rhythm strip testing on patients with cardiac arrhythmias or suspected cardiac events and relays pertinent information to appropriate clinical staff. • Provides age-specific and culturally oriented respiratory therapy care to the patient population served. • Documents and charges for patient care and respiratory therapy in compliance with department and hospital guidelines. • Cleans, reprocesses, and disinfects respiratory equipment and maintains equipment storage areas to meet regulatory requirements. • Monitors, tracks, and organizes respiratory equipment and supplies, ensuring availability, proper function, and readiness for clinical use. • Plans, provides, evaluates, and documents patient and family education under the direction of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. • Maintains compliance with all policies, procedures, education, competency, and employee health requirements. • Performs other duties as assigned.
