The University System of Maryland's Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a part-time Communications Officer to support its strategic communications efforts. This is a temporary, part-time position (20-25 hours/week) for a duration of 3 to 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce the daily Media Scan report for System stakeholders
- Serve as a point of contact for media and public information requests, coordinating with the Vice Chancellor and other stakeholders
- Draft and edit communications materials, including press releases, web stories, board newsletters, and other content for the System and Board of Regents
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative planning and execution
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2-5 years of experience working on a communications team
- Demonstrated experience writing press releases and working with media
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
