Position Overview
We are seeking a responsible, observant, and student-focused High School Hall Monitor to help maintain a safe and orderly environment during the school day. The ideal candidate is someone who communicates well with teens, builds positive rapport, and enforces school policies respectfully and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor students during study hall and take attendance.
- Tutoring and assisting students with classwork.
- Assisting students with note taking and study skills.
- Coordinate scheduling of the credit recovery courses for high school students during the academic year and providing students with instruction via Oddysseyware and Aleks software to make academic progress.
- Uses materials and lessons developed by the Oddysseyware and Aleks software, while working with classroom teachers on additional support.
- Evaluates and assesses the students’ performance and provides assistance with the instruction.
- Meets with the student and communicates with the parents about the student’s progress.
- Provide or find remedial support in all areas of the curriculum.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills and assemblies.
- Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Coordinate AP testing including communication with parents and students, payment, registration, ordering, proctors, accommodations, and test sites in accordance with state and College Board requirements.
- Coordinate SAT testing including ordering, pre-registration, accommodations, communication with parents and students, supporting proctor training, scheduling, testing sites, and working with the administration to ensure state and College Board requirements are met.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to promote and follow University School policies and building and department procedures.
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and education backgrounds.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Education, Qualification and Related Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a CDE Substitute Authorization.
- One year experience providing general supervision to students or with a classroom environment preferred.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
- Background check required for hire
