University School is seeking a Senior Manager of Food Service for the 2026-2027 academic year (beginning July 1, 2026).
The Senior Manager of Food Service is responsible for the oversight and direction of the food service operation at both campuses. Directs the food service production and delivery system, including purchase and inventory of food and supplies. Responsible for setting the standard for the production of and serving of all meals at both school campuses. Ensures conformance with food quality, nutrition, and productivity standards. Trains, manages, and supervises Food Service staff, professional practices time management techniques, and ensures the highest possible customer satisfaction. Manages the two campus Food Service Managers.
Major Responsibilities Include:
- Ensures the University School food service program follows policies and procedures and meets both the federal and state requirements
- Manages food service budget, including but not limited to efficient purchasing for both campuses and overtime
- Assigns, directs, and supervises food service workers for the Hunting Valley and Shaker campuses
- Follows proper receiving, storage, and preparation techniques to ensure that all food items are maintained at a high quality until consumed and meet all appropriate health standards
- In collaboration with the respective campus Food Service Managers, plans, reviews, and implements all meal menus (Junior Kindergarten-Grade 12) and special events.
- Maintains logbooks and/or manuals for special event planning and menus/menu preparation
- Represents the food service program on the Wellness committee
- Attends weekly administrative meetings regarding special events and lunches
Skills/Education:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in food service industry, trade, etc
- Specialized training in food preparation and/or food service management
- Intermediate computer skills with Word, Excel, etc
- Knowledge of dietetic software a plus
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with students, faculty, and parents
- HS diploma or equivalent / BA-Science or equivalent
- Must be able to meet deadlines with significant time constraints
