University School seeks a Director of Human Resources for the 2026-2027 academic year. Ideal candidates will be strategic, collaborative, experienced, and hands-on, capable of overseeing all aspects of Human Resources, including recruiting and workforce planning, onboarding, benefits & compensation design and administration, employee relations, compliance, and payroll.
The Director of Human Resources will be a member of the School's Directors' Group and will support the Board of Trustees and the Retirement Advisory Committee.
Major responsibilities include:
- Implements HR strategies that support the mission, values, and goals of the School
- Develops and maintains a proactive process to attract and retain outstanding personnel
- Designs, manages, and administers all benefit programs
- Analyzes, develops, and implements competitive compensation programs
- Oversees the timely and accurate payroll processing

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is strongly preferred, along with a minimum of five years of Human Resources generalist experience with expansive knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations, and at least two years of payroll experience. The ideal candidate is effective in higher-level HR strategic planning and processes, demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service and employee education, can exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality, possesses advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and is willing to work occasional evening hours as meetings, committee obligations, or workflow needs require.
