Job Description:

UPREP seeks a passionate Computer Technology Teacher (Middle & High School) to join our faculty. Computer Technology teachers are responsible for teaching students about the hardware and software used in modern computer systems. They will also develop students' 21st Century digital literacy skills (i.e. coding), Cyber Security and STEM Knowledge.  Computer Technology Instructors must have an extensive knowledge of computer technology. They need to know everything from how computers work internally to which operating system is best suited for different tasks. They should remain at the forefront on cutting edge technology, practices, resources  and developments within the field.

General Job Responsibilities Included but are not limited to:

  • Develop NYS Standard Units and Lesson Plans for Technology based courses such as Web Design, Tech 7, Tech 8 etc.
  • Implement culturally relevant curricula and project-based activities that are aligned with NYS Academic Technology Standards.
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
  • Develops strong classroom management skills; consistent with rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, department activities, and school-wide functions throughout the school year; 
  • Be accountable for students' mastery of musical standards;
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues; and
  • Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.

  • Participate in an annual staff orientation and training (Annually in August) and
  • Comply with all School-Wide Expectations and Systems (i.e. Reporting Time, Staff Absence, Black-Out Dates, Behavioral Referrals, Parent Contact)
  • Any additional duties as assigned

Specific Computer Technology Related Job Responsibilities:

  • Teaching students how to use different computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Maintaining computer hardware and software for school computers, including troubleshooting technical problems when they occur
  • Evaluating new computer technologies and applications and making recommendations about their use in the classroom
  • Helping students learn basic computer skills such as using a mouse or keyboard
  • Providing technical support for faculty members who need assistance with using school computers
  • Designing lesson plans that incorporate technology into instruction
  • Developing a curriculum for computer classes that covers topics such as operating systems, programming languages, and software applications used in specific fields such as engineering or graphic design
  • Assisting students with academic and personal issues that may be impacting their performance in the classroom
  • Conducting teacher training workshops on effective uses of technology in the classroom 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; 
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom;
  • Standard and expectation of high achievement in the classroom;
  • Self-directed, motivation and willingness to be a team player;

SALARY/SALARY RANGE:

The current salary range  is $48,500.00-$50,500.00; negotiable based on level of education, experience and work history.
