JOB TITLE:
Pokes Center for Community Resources (PCCR) Assistant
JOB PURPOSE:
The Pokes Center for Community Resources (PCCR) provides a centralized location where students and their families can learn about institutional and community resources pertaining to basic life skills, resources, and skills development. We serve as a conduit for education and material support in areas such as food and housing security, family support, employment and general living skills, and more.
The Pokes Center for Community Resources is located in the lower level of the Union, RM 012, and is operated within the Dean of Students Office. It houses the Pokes Food Share Pantry, Campus Community Clothing Closet, and other programs to alleviate basic needs insecurity on campus. We are looking to hire a PCCR Assistant to accomplish the daily operations of the space.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic throughout the entire course of the position
Manage operations before, during, and after open hours (as schedule allows)
Stock shelves
Sort and organize donations
Organize shelves
Create ordering lists
Track usage statistics
Keep the space clean and tidy
Interact with and assist clients
Receive donations and inventory supplies
Prepare and distribute additional resources to clients
Participate in monthly staff meetings
Assist in training PCCR volunteers
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Support creation of marketing materials such as flyers, newsletter updates, and social media
Promote the PCCR through tabling and special events
Implement small projects for the continued evolution and improvement of the PCCR
Participate in regular supervision meetings dedicated to professional growth and PCCR projects
Other duties as appropriate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a current UW student
Availability: 10-20 hours per week. Schedule is also dependent on PCCR open hours
Can lift up to 30 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
Should have a strong interest in social issues, a professional work ethic, and a commitment to make the campus more sustainable and equitable.
Must be committed to the mission of the Pokes Center for Community Resources.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Employees should be aware of the sensitive, confidential nature of working with PCCR clients and be comfortable in a service setting
Ability to work in a community with a team of workers and volunteers
Knowledge of basic food safety principles
