JOB TITLE:
Outdoor Program Climbing Wall Route Setter
JOB PURPOSE:
As part of the campus recreation department, the Outdoor Program helps recruit and retain students, faculty and staff by providing a wide range of welcoming, safe, reasonably priced Outdoor Programs and services to the UW community. We expose individuals to the natural environment, provide skill and leadership development opportunities, facilitate interactions and fun, and are open to all.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set boulder and top rope problems in the climbing gym
Be able and assured to work at heights safely after OP staff trainings
Follow all safety protocols
Ensure safe routes
Take down old routes, clean holds, and put up new climbing routes
Work with other setters to assess routes and maintain a desired distribution
Seek out feedback
Help provide high-quality customer service in the climbing gym
Enforce climbing gym policies
Assist with the cleaning and upkeep of the gym
Participate in special events
Set with the gym users in mind
Create a physically and emotionally safe and inclusive environment at the Climbing Wall
Work effectively with other students and Program Coordinators
Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Other Duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
University of Wyoming student.
Previous roped/bouldering climbing experience.
Must have a willingness and excitement to learn setting techniques, skills, and policies.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience with route setting or climbing gym employment.
