Job Duties:

The Project Manger will oversee the implementation of The Wisconsin Civic Education Teacher Training Project , a three-year initiative funded through $1.1 million grant from the United States Department of Education. The goal of the project is to improve citizen competency and informed patriotism for Wisconsin K-12 students across education sectors. The project consists of 19 evidence-based teacher trainings and various supporting activities throughout Wisconsin. The full-time project manager will be responsible for ensuring that all training and support activities are completed within the presented timelines. The project manager will also be responsible for coordinating with WICCD staff to carry out the logistics of programming.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Creating and implementing a master workplan to ensure completion of all activities.

  • Managing the logistics of scheduling and delivering 19 teacher trainings in collaboration with the Jack Miller Center (JMC), other project collaborators, and UW campus partners.

  • Creating and managing collaborative relationships with non-profit organizations in the civic education space in Wisconsin.

  • Coordinating work tasks to WICCD support employees.

  • Overseeing the budget and ensuring grant compliance in collaboration with Universities of Wisconsin staff.

  • Producing deliverables tied to performance objectives outlined in the successful grant proposal and project plan.

  • Reporting to and communicating with WICCD leadership to ensure grant-funded activities align with WICCD’s goals and mission.

The Wisconsin Institute for Citizenship and Civil Dialogue (WICCD) provides resources, opportunities, and support for teaching, learning, and practicing viewpoint diversity; freedom of expression; academic freedom; civil dialogue; and civic participation within our universities and communities.

Compensation:

The Project Manager is a full -time , salaried ( exempt), academic staff position. This position is expected to last through September 30, 2028, depending on program need and funding, with no expectation for renewal.

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $70,000 - $83,500 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Experience working in K-12 or higher education

  • Project management experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A background in civics or social studies education at the K-12 or college level

  • Experience administering a federal grant

  • Experience in public sector budgeting

Work Location:

T elecommuting or hybrid work options may be available . Preference will be given to candidates that reside within the state of Wisconsin. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time. Some travel will be required within the state of Wisconsin.
