UW Standard Job Responsibilities:
- Develops international recruitment-focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives.
- Implements policies and procedures for the processing of international applications in alignment with the international recruitment strategic plan.
- Receives, evaluates, and processes student applications according to established policies and procedures.
- Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on international student outreach, recruitment, and admission.
- Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
- Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences, to include answering international inquiries and coordinating information sessions and appointments.
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the institution.
- Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.
Additional duties specific to the position:
- Provide administrative support and assist with day-to-day office operations.
- Serve as Designated School Official (DSO), with primary responsibility for issuing Forms I-20 for new international undergraduate students in accordance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations.
- Communicate with students and other audiences regarding visa application steps, maintaining status, and other immigration-related requirements.
- Support orientation and new international student arrivals as needed.
- The role is based on campus and does not require international travel. Occasional local or domestic travel for training or professional development may be requested. Additional essential duties and responsibilities

- Knowledge of student information systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing, including emails, presentations and other materials.
- Ability to become knowledgeable about Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. citizenship and immigration laws, policies, and procedures as they apply to international students.
- Ability to become knowledgeable about college admission processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and with diverse groups of students, families and partners, strong public presentation skills.
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks and organize a variety of on and off-campus events.
- Ability to exhibit a high level of initiative and motivation.
- Ability to travel regionally, load and transport admission materials, displays and other equipment.
- Ability to work and be productive in a team environment.
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours occasionally.
- Ability to represent the admissions office positively through a strong, student-centered ethic.
- Ability to drive a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meet the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles – Policy 615
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- U.S. citizenship (or lawful permanent residency) is required for this position in accordance with Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 214.3(l)(1)(i) .
- Valid driver’s license
This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.
Desirable Qualifications:
- One or more years working in college admissions
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM’s) and/or data management systems
- Experience living, working, or studying abroad, or significant international travel experience
- Proficiency in a foreign language or experience working with non-English speakers
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this position is: $49,900 - $51,000 annually. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
