Description:
The Financial Manager is responsible for the financial operations of the UWSP Foundation and its subsidiaries including financial management activities, administration of Foundation account charters, producing or supervising the creation of financial reports, performing reconciliations, special projects, maintaining and updating procedure manuals, data management and overall operational support, maintaining, and updating software for the Foundation.
This Financial Manager reports directly to the Director of Advancement. To ensure internal control, this position also has a secondary supervisor - the UWSP Vice Chancellor for Advancement – UWSP Foundation CEO/Executive Director. This position supervises minimally 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees as well as the Foundation-funded gift-processing consultants (when they are contracted by the Foundation).

Compensation:
$60,000-80,000, based on qualifications and experience. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, and engages in financial and/or accounting operations for multiple areas; coordinates data management, budget preparation and management, and financial reporting efforts.
- May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees.
- Identifies, verifies, and audits financial charges, credits, and authorizes payments.
- Recommends, interprets, disseminates, and implements unit-focused fiscal policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with established rule, regulations and financial guidelines.
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of automated financial information systems.
- Analyzes financial information and makes recommendations to unit leadership.
- Serves as a subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding financial operations, status and reporting, and recommends process improvements.
Department:
The mission of the UWSP University Advancement Department is to strengthen relationships with university stakeholders and manage engagement by telling the UWSP Story and fundraising activities to secure resources and support for the university’s mission and vision.
University Advancement works to increase the resources available to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point by generating philanthropic interests and volunteer support.
Advancement oversees activities of the UWSP Alumni Association, Major Gift Officers, development and the UWSP Foundation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working knowledge/experience.
- Strong background in developing and implementing procedures, process, and operational controls.
- Technically adept in all areas of accounting and financial management including cash flow management, financial analysis, earnings projections, budgeting, reporting, and risk assessments.
- Understanding of budgeting.
- Strong skillset of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CASE, VSE, Gift Attainment and Reporting Standards.
- Knowledge of NXT/Raisers Edge/Financial Edge database.
- Understanding of Charter Agreements.
- Familiarity with Philanthropy.
- Knowledge of higher education institution operations.
- Ability to supervise multiple FTE’s.
- Ability to implement and formulate processes and procedures.
- Experience with Project and Change Management
