What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT BUSINESS ANALYST II position at University of Wisconsin–Madison?
The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is responsible for administration of the extramural research grants and contracts. RSP currently manages an open portfolio of over $4 Billion with annual awards over $1 Billion. The Business Systems Analyst is on the Electronic Research Administration (eRA) team and will support the PeopleSoft Grants Suite, ensuring the data is accurate, resolve any data integrity issues, provide systems training, and support the systems upgrades as needed.
- 5% Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
- 25% Devises or modifies moderately complex information systems including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary
- 5% Determines and recommends programs required for optimal problem solution within cost/performance objectives
- 10% Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination
- 5% Performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure that programs meet or exceed schedule commitments
- 10% Works on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation
- 30% Trains, serves as a resource, and provides guidance to other IT business analysts on routine problems, work processes, and policies
- 10% May work with external vendors or service providers

Required
Bachelor's Degree
Preferably in one of the following areas: IT, IT Systems Analysis, Accounting, or Business.
- Experience and education in IT systems, business process and systems analysis, accounting, finance, or equivalent. (e.g., 4 year degree).
- Knowledge or experience is systems analysis and processes.
- Knowledge of grants accounting, accruals, grants closeouts, month-end closing and year-end closing.
- Knowledge in developing accounting policies and procedures.
- Familiar with system development and implementation life cycle and methodologies.
- Experience in developing functional requirement documents and/or system design documents.
- Experience in implementing and/or upgrading of a major ERP financial software, preferably in PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.
- Above average knowledge of and skills in use of Excel and Word (or similar software application).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to act as a project lead.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong customer support skills.
- Must be a team player.

Depending on Qualifications
The ideal hiring salary for this position will be within $70,000 to $80,000 for experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
