The Clinical Research Onboarding & Education Specialist will serve as a key member of the education team within the Clinical Research Central Office (CRCO), serving at the direction of the Clinical Research Education Manager for the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC). The CRCO is a large team of over 90 staff that serves approximately 250 Principal Investigators engaged in human subjects' oncology research at UWCCC. This incumbent is dedicated to the onboarding/offboarding of clinical research staff, maintaining internal and external websites (Knowledge Base), and assisting with creating online education courses and training videos. The Clinical Research Onboarding & Education Specialistis also responsible for managing the professional certification program, supervising student employees, tracking institutional training, creating documentation, and completing other projects and administrative tasks assigned by the Education Manager. A successful Clinical Research Onboarding & Education Specialist must be effective at working with a wide variety of individuals within the organization, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work independently using initiative and sound judgement. This position is 90% remote and 10% onsite.

  • This position is full or part-time, 80% - 100%

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration:
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with peers, superiors, senior administrators, and staff in other units within the organization as well as external entities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

  • Ability to learn independently, take initiative, be resourceful, and handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

  • Proven analytical and prioritization skills, problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lead meetings and activities in a team environment

  • Knowledge of clinical research

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success

  • Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)

  • Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program

  • Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems

  • Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $60,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Two years of related professional work experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical research experience

  • 3-4 years of related professional work experience

  • Experience with utilizing video/editing software

  • Experience with HTML basics

Education:

Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent professional experience considered.
